For someone making a video thumbnail, the useful question comes after generation: can the title change without rebuilding the whole picture? Canva's launch announcement connects Craft to its existing Magic Layers tool, which separates a flat image into editable design elements.
The picture and the headline need different edits
Canva describes Craft as producing images up to 2K resolution, with more than 30 aspect ratios and support for text in 55 languages. Those are company-stated capabilities, not results from a test by this site. Availability to all users also does not establish unlimited generation or identical allowances on every plan.
In its earlier Magic Layers explanation, Canva describes recovering separate text and objects from an image. That differs from a flat JPEG, where the letters are stored as pixels rather than a selectable text box. The distinction matters if a thumbnail's wording needs to change after the background is approved.
Check the exported image, not just the editable design
Our editorial suggestion is to keep the final title editable and inspect the export at the size viewers will actually see. A successful layer conversion is not proof that a face, product or small word has survived unchanged. Thumbnail-sized previews expose a different problem from a large editor canvas.
Craft concerns the source image and layout. Edits' reference Reels and style kits concern video styling, while carousel creation adds a sequence to review. Treating those as separate stages helps a creator decide what still needs checking before a graphic becomes part of a post.
