YouTube began rolling out Hype with Jewels in nine more markets on November 6. Viewers in those markets already had three free Hypes a week. On mobile, eligible fans can now spend Jewels to boost a recent upload beyond that allowance and add points to its country leaderboard.

The new markets are the United States, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom. TeamYouTube said the rollout covers eligible Partner Program channels with 500 to 500,000 subscribers. The feature had already reached Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan earlier this year.
The first week still sets the deadline
The paid option extends how many times someone can Hype, but the upload still has to be within its first seven days. On YouTube, a thumbnail and title can be changed after publication. Changing them does not make an older upload eligible again. If you want to mention Hype when you announce a video, it makes sense to check eligibility and have your thumbnail ready before the upload goes live.
This is a separate tool from YouTube’s thumbnail and testing features. A paid Hype adds points toward a leaderboard; a thumbnail still has to tell viewers what they will get when they click. The announcement does not promise a certain number of views.
What creators can see after a paid Hype
When a viewer spends Jewels on a Hype, the creator earns Rubies, which appear in YouTube Analytics and are paid through AdSense for YouTube. The viewer’s handle can appear in a recognition section of the video description. Creators need the Virtual Items Module, identity verification and the Hype setting enabled in Studio to earn.
That makes this a distinct source of earnings alongside the usual channel monetization process. Start with the settings for your channel and a new eligible upload. If the button does not appear on an older video, buying Jewels will not bring its first week back.
