TikTok's October 30 product preview introduces Promotional Formats for Web Traffic, putting offers such as percentage discounts, cash discounts and free shipping onto an ad's call-to-action button. The change gives advertisers another place to present a promotion outside the video image itself.

The Q4 preview says advertisers can add up to 35 promotional offers at ad level. TikTok says the system can draw offer information from Shopify, historical URLs and Catalog Manager, then optimise the promotional format.

Keep the video and the current offer in separate layers

In the official announcement, the feature reduces the need to place discount messages manually into video creatives or landing pages. For a creator preparing several cuts, that suggests a useful division of work: make the underlying demonstration reusable, then manage the changing offer in the ad's promotional layer.

A burned-in discount becomes part of every exported frame. A separate button offer does not require that same visual commitment. It still needs to agree with the destination page and the promotion's terms; moving information out of the video does not make accuracy automatic.

This is an ad feature, not an organic thumbnail tool

The preview does not establish that ordinary posts receive these buttons, or that every advertiser can use them immediately. It gives no universal rollout date or country list. The distinction matters because paid online advertising has presentation controls separate from an organic upload.

Tools such as Canva Craft for image creation and reusable styles in Edits address the creative asset. TikTok's offer format addresses how a paid ad presents a deal. Treating those as different production decisions can keep a short-lived promotion from dating an otherwise reusable video.
